Meteorological Team and Severe Weather Coverage
Given Chicago's notoriously volatile climate—ranging from heavy winter lake-effect snowstorms to severe summer convective thunderstorms—the weather department holds a critical position in the daily broadcast lineup.
The Storm Team 5 meteorologists utilize advanced Doppler radar technology, predictive modeling software, and real-time street-level data sensors to provide early warnings. Viewers rely on these specialists not only during routine morning commutes but also during critical emergency activations when tornadoes or flash flooding threaten the region.
